Danone North America was founded in 2017 when Danone acquired WhiteWave Foods. The two companies were united with this mission of bringing health through food to as many people as possible. With products including fresh dairy, organic dairy, coffee creamers, and plant-based beverages, Danone North America has items for all ages, and it is considered one of the top 15 food and beverage companies in the U.S.

Danone North America operates as a public benefit corporation and is B Corp certified as of 2018, indicating their commitment to balancing purpose and profit. Certified B Corporations are legally obligated to consider the weight of their decisions on their customers, community, workers, suppliers and the environment.

In January 2020, Danone announced their partnership with rePlant Capital, a financial services firm that aims to address the climate crisis with innovative financial products and services. Through this partnership, rePlant Capital has plans to invest up to $20 million to support Danone North America’s farmers as they convert to regenerative or organic agricultural practices.

Woven into the company culture is the mission to sustainability. Danone North America also works to address the climate crisis by sourcing the most sustainable ingredients, investing in recyclable packaging, ensuring animal welfare, and engaging the communities in which they operate. The company has moved forward in creating an independent advisory committee to weigh in on the topics of business, food, health, and sustainability, so they may act in a way that’s most responsible for people and the planet.
