E&J Gallo Winery is a family-owned company that aims to be the leader in the U.S. wine industry and around the world. The company was founded in 1933 in Modesto, California by two brothers, Ernest and Julio Gallo. E&J Gallo Winery has a strong commitment to quality, and the company takes pride in every step of production, from grape growing to wine making. Their products are sold in more than 80 countries around the globe.
Sustainability is a priority for E&J Gallo Winery. Their commitment to sustainability began in 1930, at the inception of their company. Ernest and Julio Gallo created a new approach to land conservation known as the “50/50 Give Back” plan. For every acre of land the Gallo brothers planted, one acre of property would be set aside for wildlife habitat. This practice still continues today in the North Coast of California, where E&J Gallo Winery is located.
In addition to the 50/50 Give Back plan, E&J Gallo Winery also supports the American Farmland Trust, a national nonprofit that promotes environmentally sound farming practices, improves the economic viability of agriculture, helps protect the nation’s farmland.
