In 1965, PepsiCo began creating food and beverage products, now seen in grocery stores around the world. The company aims to build a more sustainable food system, understanding the vast opportunities that exist to change the production, distribution, and consumption of food and beverages. To lead by example, PepsiCo has established a list of Environmental, Social & Governance Topics, focused on matters like sustainable agriculture, responsible water usage, and climate change mitigation. Their commitment to such initiatives can be found in their recent Sustainability Report. Major goals for PepsiCo include delivering safe drinking water to 25 million people by 2025, designing 100% of packaging to be recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2030.
With a focus on alleviating hunger, the PepsiCo Foundation creates systemic solutions to address food insecurity. Through their Food for Good program, the PepsiCo Foundation has delivered more than 100 million meals to low-income families across the U.S, and through the Global Foodbanking Network, the Foundation has delivered an additional 20 million meals internationally.
