Sierra Nevada has initiated a recall on a single lot of their 6oz Raw Milk Goat Cheddar cheese due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution as no illnesses have been reported, and follow-up testing indicated no Listeria present.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
This recall applies only to product with both lot code 90423255 and sell by date of 05/29/26. Customers who have the affected product are urged to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Customers with questions may contact Sprouts Customer Relations at customerrelations@sprouts.com.
