Spring & Mulberry has initiated a Class I recall on select lots of their 2.1oz date-sweetened chocolate bars due to potential Salmonella contamination discovered through third party lab testing by the manufacturer. This recall only impacts select stores in California and Utah. Customers who have purchased affected product are urged to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, frail or elderly people, and other people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
