This week, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation partnered with Helping Hands for the Navajo Nation, a grassroots volunteer group, to bring much-needed food and supplies to the residents of three remote communities in Arizona – Tolani Lake, Birdsprings and Indian Wells. A refrigerated Sprouts truck loaded with fresh produce and baked bread caravanned from the Sprouts Distribution Center in Glendale, Ariz. with eight other vehicles full of food and supplies, traveling more than 10 hours round trip to the Navajo Nation. At each stop, the trucks were met with volunteers who helped to offload the food and supplies that will be distributed to families hard-hit by the pandemic.
“The efforts of the volunteers who organized this caravan are truly humbling, as are the tremendous needs facing the Navajo Nation” said Lyndsey Waugh, Executive Director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. “We were able to help with this quick request thanks to our vendors, transportation and distribution center teams who made this happen.”
We appreciate our generous growers Tricar, Baloian, Crown Jewel and Basin Gold, and bakers Grupo Bimbo and Flowers Foods for donating fresh food – and Schneider Trucking for transportation assistance for this special trip. And, a huge shout-out to our #TeamSprouts Distribution Center crew for helping coordinate and pack this order with a quick turnaround time!
