Announcing the First-Ever Coast-to-Coast Virtual School Gardens Tour!

Save the date message for the first-ever coast-to-coast school virtual school gardening tour

On April 27, bring your students or children on a virtual journey from the Big Island of Hawai’i to Washington, D.C. as we celebrate school gardens across the country! At each stop on this first-ever, Coast-to-Coast Virtual School Garden Tour, we’ll hear from students in unique and diverse communities, learning how they’re engaging in hands-on outdoor education, growing healthy food for themselves and their communities, and becoming caretakers of their local environments.

The 45-minute event begins at 10am PT and will feature activities for you to try in your own school gardens, or at home with your kids! This celebration of school gardens is expected to bring together more than 1,200 elementary schools tuning in live. We hope you can join us!

Community Service

Community Service

Our team members at Sprouts Farmers Market love serving their customers and community, and for many of them, their desire to give back extends beyond the store. That’s why we launched the Sprouts Annual Day of Service. On the first Saturday of November, team members nationwide partner with local nonprofits to give back, cleaning up parks and gardens, packing emergency food bags, and showing that “goodness grows” in their community.

Knowledge Network

Knowledge Network

As we all work towards a common goal, of increasing nutrition education and fresh food access, it is our collective impact producing the greatest results. With this in mind, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation aims to connect nonprofit partners sharing in this work, exchanging best practices and resources to empower us all.

Through in-person and virtual events, we are creating a Knowledge Network, bringing experts in the field of school and community gardening together to help advance the movement. With years of experience, these organizations build upon each other’s great work, taking the most effective programming and bringing it to their own communities.

Our Grants

Our Grants

The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation supports a variety of nonprofit partners, from those working at the community level to those operating nationwide. With the size and scope of programs varying widely, we offer three levels of grants to meet our partners’ unique needs.

Neighborhood Grant: A one-year grant up to $10,000. Recipients often support a single community, and funding is allocated to one program.

Healthy Communities Grant: A two-year grant, between $50,000 and $100,000. Funding supports the development and implementation of new programs, allowing organizations to serve a greater number of people.

Impact Grant: Three-year grants of varying amounts, determined by the scale of our partners’ programs. Recipients are considered experts in their field, and their programs often span across cities and states, uplifting entire communities, providing nutrition education and food access programs, or producing critical research on these important topics.

Foundation Spotlights

Celebrating 5 Years of Creating Healthy Communities

It’s been five exciting years for the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, working to bring healthy food access and nutrition education programs to youth. In that time, we have awarded more than $10 million to nonprofit partners across 23 states. Together, these organizations have impacted thousands of young lives, teaching kids the importance of eating well and providing fresh, healthy food, close to home.

We’ve grown over the years, adding new partners and programs along the way. With three grant options now available – the Neighborhood Grant, Healthy Communities Grant and Impact Grant – we are working with organizations of all sizes, from those at the grassroots level to others overseeing garden operations across entire cities. Through the partners we support, more than 100,000 children received nutrition education and fresh food access in 2019 alone, and we look to increase that number in the years ahead.

As we work to alter the nutritional landscape, we remain focused on providing children with the knowledge, tools, confidence and desire they need to make healthier food choices. Together, we can continue improving the way our kids eat and build healthy habits that will last a lifetime!
